If the damp chill of our recent weather has you feeling down, take heart in the fact that the month of October usually brings a few pleasantly warm afternoons before winter weather sets in. The Fargo-Moorhead and Grand Forks areas average about four or five days at or above 70 degrees in October. Of course, an average is only that. Any given year can deliver lots of mild October weather or hardly any. There have been nine Octobers since 1881 without any 70-degree weather. The most recent was in 2009.
